✧ Mu'adh b. Jabal came to Abu Musa in Yemen, and there was a man with him. He said, 'What is this?' He said, 'A man who was a Jew, then embraced Islam, then reverted to Judaism, and we have been seeking to return him to Islam for—I think he said two months.' He said, 'By God, I will not sit until you strike his neck.' So his neck was struck. He said, 'God and His Messenger have decreed that whoever reverts from his religion, then kill him,' or he said, 'Whoever changes his religion, then kill him.'

machine translationKhālid al-Ḥadhdhāʾ narrated it from Ḥumayd b. Hilāl, from Abū Burdah, from Abū Mūsā and Muʿādh. Ayyūb narrated it from Ḥumayd b. Hilāl as a mursal report (mursal). Abū Isḥāq al-Shaybānī narrated it from Saʿīd b. Abī Burdah, from his father. In that is a strengthening of the narration of Khālid al-Ḥadhdhāʾ.
