حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ أَخْبَرَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ جُمْهَانَ حَدَّثَنِي سَفِينَةُ

أَنَّ رَجُلًا ضَافَ عَلِيًّا فَصَنَعَ لَهُ طَعَامًا فَقَالَتْفَاطِمَةُ لِعَلِيٍّ لَوْ دَعَوْتَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَأَكَلَ مَعَنَا فَدَعَوْنَاهُ فَجَاءَ فَأَخَذَ بِعِضَادَتَيِ الْبَابِ وَقَدْ ضَرَبْنَا قِرَامًا فِي نَاحِيَةِ الْبَيْتِ فَلَمَّا رَآهُ رَجَعَ قَالَتْ فَاطِمَةُ لِعَلِيٍّ الْحَقْهُ فَانْظُرْ مَا رَجَعَهُ؟ قَالَ مَا رَدَّكَ يَا نَبِيَّ اللهِ؟ قَالَ لَيْسَ لِنَبِيٍّ أَنْ يَدْخُلَ بَيْتًا مُزَوَّقًا

Translation

✧ A man stayed as a guest of ʿAlī, and he prepared food for him. Fāṭima said to ʿAlī, “If only you invited the Prophet ﷺ and he ate with us.” So we invited him, and he came and took hold of the two doorposts, and we had hung a curtain in a corner of the house. When he saw it, he turned back. Fāṭima said to ʿAlī, “Follow him and see what made him turn back.” He said, “What made you turn back, O Prophet of God?” He said, “It is not for a prophet to enter a decorated house.”
