✧ A man was hosted by ʿAlī b. Abī Ṭālib, and he prepared food for him. Fāṭima said, “If only we invited the Messenger of God ﷺ.” Then he mentioned something like the ḥadīth of Abū Kāmil. So they invited him, and he came and placed his hand on the two doorposts and saw an embroidered curtain in a corner of the house, so he turned back. Fāṭima said to ʿAlī, “Follow him and ask him, ‘Why did you turn back, O Messenger of God?’” He said, “It is not for me to enter a decorated house.”
