✧ My Father, Abdulrahman: The Ship of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ's Companion

حَدَّثَنَا أَسْوَدُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شَرِيكٌ عَنْ عِمْرَانَ النَّخْلِيِّ عَنْ مَوْلًى لِأُمِّ سَلَمَةَ قَالَ

كُنْتُ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فِي سَفَرٍ، فَانْتَهَيْنَا إِلَى وَادِي. قَالَ: فَجَعَلْتُ أَعْبُرُ النَّاسَ أَوْ أَحْمِلُهُمْ. قَالَ: فَقَالَ لِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: مَا كُنْتَ الْيَوْمَ إِلَّا سَفِينَةً أَوْ: مَا أَنْتَ إِلَّا سَفِينَةٌ

Translation

✧ I was with the Prophet ﷺ on a journey, and we came to a valley. He said: I began to ferry the people across, or to carry them. He said: The Messenger of God ﷺ said to me, “Today you have been nothing but a ship,” or “You are nothing but a ship.”
