✧ We went out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ toward Hunayn, and we passed by a lote tree. I said, "O Prophet of Allah, make for us a Dhat Anwat as the disbelievers have a Dhat Anwat." The disbelievers used to hang their weapons on a lote tree and devote themselves around it. The Prophet ﷺ said, "Allah is greatest! This is as the Children of Israel said to Moses: 'Make for us a god as they have gods.' You will surely follow the ways of those before you."
