✧ My Father and Waged al-Laithi

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْقَاسِمِ عَنِ الْأَوْزَاعِيِّ عَنْ حَسَّانَ بْنِ عَطِيَّةَ عَنْ أَبِي وَاقِدٍ اللَّيْثِيِّ قَالَ

قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، إِنَّا بِأَرْضٍ تُصِيبُنَا بِهَا مَخْمَصَةٌ، فَمَا يَحِلُّ لَنَا مِنَ الْمَيْتَةِ ؟ قَالَ: إِذَا لَمْ تَصْطَبِحُوا وَلَمْ تَغْتَبِقُوا وَلَمْ تَحْتَفِئُوا بَقْلًا، فَشَأْنَكُمْ بِهَا

Translation

✧ I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, we are in a land where we suffer hunger. What is permissible for us from carrion?' He said: 'If you have not drunk a morning draught, nor an evening draught, and have not gathered herbs, then you may use it.'
