✧ One of the Prophet's ﷺ daughters sent to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ that a child of hers, a son or a daughter, was dying, so come to us. He said: He sent to her, conveying peace and saying: 'To Allah belongs what He takes and what He gives, and everything with Him has a fixed term. So let her be patient and seek reward.' She sent back adjuring him, so he stood up and we stood up with him. The child was lifted to the lap of, or in the lap of, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and its soul was rattling. Among the people were Sa'd b. 'Ubada and Ubayy, I think. The eyes of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ overflowed, and Sa'd said to him: 'What is this, O Messenger of Allah?' He said: 'This is mercy that Allah places in the hearts of whomever He wills of His servants, and Allah has mercy on only the merciful among His servants.'
