✧ Osama bin Zaid's Love for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ

حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ أَخْبَرَنَا قَيْسُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ عَنْ عَطَاءٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ عَنْ أُسَامَةَ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ أَفَاضَ مِنْ عَرَفَةَ وَرَدِيفُهُ أُسَامَةُ، فَجَعَلَ يَكْبَحُ رَاحِلَتَهُ حَتَّى إِنَّ ذِفْرَاهَا لَتَكَادُ أَنْ تَمَسَّ، وَرُبَّمَا قَالَ حَمَّادٌ: أَنْ تُصِيبَ قَادِمَةَ الرَّحْلِ وَهُوَ يَقُولُ: يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ، عَلَيْكُمْ بِالسَّكِينَةِ وَالْوَقَارِ، فَإِنَّ الْبِرَّ لَيْسَ فِي إِيضَاعِ الْإِبِلِ

Translation

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ departed from Arafah with Usamah riding behind him. He began pulling back the reins of his mount until its head nearly touched the front of the saddle—or perhaps Hammad said: until it almost struck the front of the saddle—while saying: 'O people, you must be calm and dignified, for righteousness is not in making the camels trot fast.'
