حَدَّثَنَا الْحَكَمُ بْنُ نَافِعٍ أَخْبَرَنَا شُعَيْبٌ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ أَخْبَرَنِي خَارِجَةُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ أَنَّ زَيْدَ بْنَ ثَابِتٍ قَالَ
لَمَّا نَسَخْنَا الْمَصَاحِفَ، فَقَدْتُ آيَةً مِنْ سُورَةِ الْأَحْزَابِ قَدْ كُنْتُ أَسْمَعُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يَقْرَأُ بِهَا، فَالْتَمَسْتُهَا فَلَمْ أَجِدْهَا مَعَ أَحَدٍ إِلَّا مَعَ خُزَيْمَةَ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ، الَّذِي جَعَلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ شَهَادَتَهُ شَهَادَةَ رَجُلَيْنِ، قَوْلُ اللهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ: مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ رِجَالٌ صَدَقُوا مَا عَاهَدُوا اللهَ عَلَيْهِ

✧ When we were copying the maṣāḥif, I missed a verse from Sūrat al-Aḥzāb that I used to hear the Prophet ﷺ recite. I searched for it and found it with no one except Khuzaymah b. Thābit al-Anṣārī, whose testimony the Messenger of Allah ﷺ made equal to the testimony of two men: the words of Allah, Mighty and Majestic: "Among the believers are men who have been true to what they pledged to Allah."
