✧ Something about divine decree occurred to me, so I came to Zayd b. Thabit and asked him. He said: “I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: ‘If Allah were to punish the inhabitants of His heavens and the inhabitants of His earth, He would punish them without being unjust to them. And if He had mercy on them, His mercy would be better for them than their deeds. And if you had Mount Uhud—or the like of Mount Uhud—in gold and spent it in the path of Allah, Allah would not accept it from you until you believe in divine decree and know that what struck you would not have missed you, and what missed you would not have struck you. And if you die upon other than this, you will enter the Fire.’”
