✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ began reciting this verse to me: “And whoever fears God, He will make for him a way out,” until he finished the verse. Then he said, “O Abu Dharr, if all people were to act upon it, it would suffice them.” He said, “He kept reciting it and repeating it to me until I dozed off.” Then he said, “O Abu Dharr, how would you act if you were expelled from Madinah?” He said, “I said, ‘I would go to the open space and tranquility; I would depart until I become a pigeon among the pigeons of Makkah.’” He said, “How would you act if you were expelled from Makkah?” He said, “I said, ‘I would go to the open space and tranquility, to Syria and the Holy Land.’” He said, “Then how would you act if you were expelled from Syria?” He said, “I said, ‘Then, by the One who sent you with the truth, I would put my sword on my shoulder.’” He said, “Is there not something better than that?” He said, “I said, ‘Is there something better than that?!’” He said, “You hear and obey, even if he is an Abyssinian slave.”
