حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ شُعْبَةَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عِمْرَانَ الْجَوْنِيُّ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ الصَّامِتِ قَالَ
لَمَّا قَدِمَ أَبُو ذَرٍّ عَلَى عُثْمَانَ مِنَ الشَّامِ فَقَالَ: أَمَرَنِي خَلِيلِي ﷺ بِثَلَاثٍ: اسْمَعْ وَأَطِعْ وَلَوْ عَبْدًا مُجَدَّعَ الْأَطْرَافِ، وَإِذَا صَنَعْتَ مَرَقَةً فَأَكْثِرْ مَاءَهَا، ثُمَّ انْظُرْ أَهْلَ بَيْتٍ مِنْ جِيرَتِكَ فَأَصِبْهُمْ مِنْهَا بِمَعْرُوفٍ، وَصَلِّ الصَّلَاةَ لِوَقْتِهَا، فَإِنْ وَجَدْتَ الْإِمَامَ قَدْ صَلَّى فَقَدْ أَحْرَزْتَ صَلَاتَكَ، وَإِلَّا فَهِيَ نَافِلَةٌ
Translation

✧ When Abu Dharr came to Uthman from Syria, he said: My close friend ﷺ commanded me with three things: Hear and obey, even if the leader is a slave with mutilated limbs; and when you make a broth, increase its water, then look to a household of your neighbors and give them some of it with kindness; and pray the prayer at its proper time, and if you find that the imam has already prayed, you have secured your prayer, otherwise it is a supererogatory prayer.
