✧ For every soul, in every day in which the sun rises, there is a charity due from it for itself. I said: O Messenger of God, from where should I give charity when we have no wealth? He said: Among the gates of charity are the takbir (saying Allāhu akbar), and subḥān Allāh (glory be to God), and al-ḥamdu li-llāh (praise be to God), and lā ilāha illā Allāh (there is no god but God), and astaghfiru Allāh (I seek forgiveness from God), and you enjoin what is right, and you forbid what is wrong, and you remove a thorn, a bone, and a stone from people's path, and you guide the blind, and you make the deaf and the mute hear until he understands, and you direct the one seeking guidance to something he needs whose location you already know, and you hasten with the strength of your legs to the distressed one crying for help, and you lift with the strength of your arms together with the weak one. All of that is among the gates of charity from you for yourself. And you have a reward in your sexual intercourse with your wife. Abu Dharr said: How can I have a reward in my lust?! The Messenger of God ﷺ said: Do you not see that if you had a child, and he reached maturity and you hoped for his goodness, then he died, would you seek reward for it? I said: Yes. He said: Did you create him? He said: Rather, God created him. He said: Did you guide him? He said: Rather, God guided him. He said: Did you [used to] provide for him? He said: Rather, God used to provide for him. He said: Thus, place it in what is lawful for him and keep him away from what is forbidden for him. If God wills, He will give him life, and if He wills, He will cause him to die, and you will have a reward.
