✧ A man called 'Akkaf b. Bishr al-Tamimi entered upon the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. The Prophet ﷺ said to him: 'O 'Akkaf, do you have a wife?' He said: 'No.' He said: 'Nor a slave woman?' He said: 'Nor a slave woman.' He said: 'And you are well-off with good?' He said: 'I am well-off with good.' He said: 'Then you are one of the brothers of the devils. If you were among the Christians, you would be one of their monks. Our sunnah is marriage. The worst of you are your unmarried, and the lowest of your dead are your unmarried. Do you rub against Satan? Satan has no weapon more effective against the righteous than women, except for the married. Those are the purified, the innocent of obscenity. Woe to you, O 'Akkaf, they are the wives of Ayyub, Dawud, Yusuf, and Kursuf.' Bishr b. 'Atiyya said to him: 'Who is Kursuf, O Messenger of Allah?' He said: 'A man who worshipped Allah on a shore of the sea for three hundred years, fasting by day and standing in prayer by night. Then he disbelieved in Allah the Almighty because of a woman he fell in love with, and he abandoned the worship of Allah, Mighty and Majestic, that he had been upon. Then Allah caught him with some of what he had done, and He accepted his repentance. Woe to you, O 'Akkaf, marry, otherwise you are among the wavering.' He said: 'Marry me, O Messenger of Allah.' He said: 'I have married you to Karimah bt. Kulthum al-Himyari.'
