✧ Indeed God [Mighty and Majestic] loves three and hates three: He hates the adulterous old man, the arrogant poor man, and the wealthy miser. And He loves three: a man who was in a battalion and charged back to protect them until he was killed, or God granted him victory; a man who was among a people who traveled by night, then dismounted at the end of the night—when sleep was dearer to them than anything else it might be weighed against—so they slept, but he arose reciting My verses and seeking My favor; and a man who was among a people to whom a man came asking them by kinship between them and him, but they were stingy toward him, and he remained behind at their heels and gave him where none saw him except God and the one to whom he gave.
