Show the chain

✧ Regarding His saying, blessed and exalted is He: {He is able to send upon you a punishment from above you...}—the verse. He said: They are four, and all of them are punishment, and all of them will surely occur. Two passed twenty-five years after the death of the Messenger of God ﷺ: they were made into factions and some of them tasted the might of others. Two remain that will surely occur: the sinking and the stoning.

What scholars said about it

In their own words, as Hadith Unlocked records them. They are shown, not summarised into a grade.

  • Ibn Ḥajar al-ʿAsqalānī

machine translationThis hadith has been declared defective (muʿall) on the grounds that Ubayy b. Kaʿb did not live to see the year twenty-five after the Prophet's death, and also because it contradicts the hadith of Jābir and others.
