✧ We were pilgrims, and I found a whip, so I took it. The people said, 'You take it! Perhaps it belongs to a Muslim man.' He said: I said, 'Is it not permissible for me to take it and benefit from it, better than that a wolf should eat it?' I met Ubayy b. Ka'b and mentioned that to him. He said, 'You did well.' Then he said, 'I picked up a purse containing a hundred dinars. I came to the Prophet ﷺ and mentioned that to him. He said, "Announce it for a year." I announced it for a year. Then I came to him and said, "I have announced it for a year." He said, "Announce it for another year." Then he said, "Benefit from it, but preserve its tie and its cloth, and count its number. If its owner comes..."'
