✧ We came to Khabbāb b. al-Aratt to visit him, and he had cauterized himself in his belly seven times. He said: Were it not that the Messenger of God ﷺ forbade us to pray for death, I would have prayed for it, for my illness has prolonged. Then he said: Our companions who passed away, the world did not diminish them in anything, and we after them have obtained what we find no place for except the dust. [He said: And he was] building a wall of his. And a Muslim man is rewarded in all his spending except in something he puts into the dust.
