حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَلَمَةَ الْخُزَاعِيُّ أَخْبَرَنَا شَرِيكٌ عَنْ سِمَاكٍ عَنْ جَابِرٍ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ قَالَ
كُنَّا نَجْلِسُ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَكَانُوا يَتَنَاشَدُونَ الْأَشْعَارَ وَيَتَذَاكَرُونَ أَشْيَاءَ مِنْ أَمْرِ الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ وَرَسُولُاللهِ ﷺ سَاكِتٌ فَرُبَّمَا تَبَسَّمَ أَوْ قَالَ كُنَّا نَتَنَاشَدُ الْأَشْعَارَ وَنَذْكُرُ أَشْيَاءَ مِنْ أَمْرِ الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ فَرُبَّمَا تَبَسَّمَ ﷺ

✧ We used to sit with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and they would recite poetry and discuss matters from the time of ignorance while the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was silent. Sometimes he smiled. Or he said: We used to recite poetry and mention matters from the time of ignorance, and sometimes he ﷺ smiled.
