حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ عَنْ الْمَسْعُودِيِّ عَنْ سِمَاكٍ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ قَالَ
جَاءَ مَاعِزُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَاعْتَرَفَ عِنْدَهُ بِالزِّنَى قَالَ فَحَوَّلَ وَجْهَهُ قَالَ فَجَاءَنَا فَاعْتَرَفَ مِرَارًا فَأَمَرَ بِرَجْمِهِ فَرُجِمَ ثُمَّ أُتِيَ فَأُخْبِرَ فَقَامَ فَحَمِدَ اللهَ تَعَالَى وَأَثْنَى عَلَيْهِ قَالَ مَا بَالُ رِجَالٍ كُلَّمَا نَفَرْنَا فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ تَخَلَّفَ أَحَدُهُمْ عِنْدَهُنَّ لَهُ نَبِيبٌ كَنَبِيبِ التَّيْسِ يَمْنَحُ إِحْدَاهُنَّ الْكُثْبَةَ لَئِنْ أَمْكَنَنِي اللهُ مِنْهُمْ لَأَجْعَلَنَّهُمْ نَكَالًا

✧ Ma'iz b. Malik came to the Prophet ﷺ and confessed to adultery before him. He (the Prophet) turned his face away. Then he (Ma'iz) came to us and confessed repeatedly. He (the Prophet) ordered that he be stoned, and he was stoned. Then he (the Prophet) was brought the news, so he stood up, praised God Almighty, and extolled Him. He said: 'What is the matter with men who, whenever we set out in the path of God, one of them stays behind with those women, bleating like a billy goat, giving one of them a small amount of milk? If God enables me to catch them, I will make an example of them.'
