حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ عَنْ سَعِيدٍ وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ عَنْ حُضَيْنٍ أَبِي سَاسَانَ عَنِ الْمُهَاجِرِ بْنِ قُنْفُذٍ قَالَ عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ ابْنُ عُمَيْرِ بْنِ

أَنَّهُ سَلَّمَ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَهُوَ يَتَوَضَّأُ، فَلَمْ يَرُدَّ عَلَيْهِ، فَلَمَّا فَرَغَ مِنْ وُضُوئِهِ قَالَ: إِنَّهُ لَمْ يَمْنَعْنِي أَنْ أَرُدَّ عَلَيْكَ إِلَّا أَنِّي كَرِهْتُ أَنْ أَذْكُرَ اللهَ [تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى] إِلَّا عَلَى طَهَارَةٍ.

✧ That he greeted the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while he was performing ablution, and he did not return his greeting. When he finished his ablution, he said: 'Nothing prevented me from returning your greeting except that I disliked mentioning Allah [Blessed and Exalted] except in a state of purity.'
