✧ They said: O Messenger of Allah, we used to slaughter an ʿatīrah in the Jāhiliyyah; what do you command us? He said: Slaughter for Allah [Mighty and Majestic] in whatever month it is, and be good to Allah [Blessed and Exalted], and feed others. They said: O Messenger of Allah, we used to offer a faraʿ in the Jāhiliyyah; what do you command us? He said: In every pasturing herd there is a faraʿ: let your livestock raise it until it becomes fit for carrying loads, then you slaughter it and give its meat as charity. Khālid said: I think he said: to the wayfarer, for that is better. He said: And the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: We used to forbid you to eat their meat beyond three days so that it might suffice you, but Allah [Blessed and Exalted] has brought abundance, so eat, store, and trade. Indeed, these days are days of eating, drinking, and remembrance of Allah [Blessed and Exalted].
