✧ His father and a group of his people came as a delegation to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when his affair became apparent, and the people had learned the Qur'an. They fulfilled their needs, then asked him: "Who should lead us in prayer?" He said: "The one among you who has collected the most Qur'an, or has taken the most Qur'an, should lead you." [He said:] They returned to their people and asked in the neighborhood, and they did not find anyone who had collected more than I had collected. So they put me forward before them, and I led them in prayer while I was a young boy wearing a cloak of mine. He said: I have not attended any gathering of Jarm except that I was their imam until this day of mine.

machine translationHe used to consider the case of ʿAmr b. Salamah weak (ḍaʿīf), and once he said: "Leave him, he is nothing (laysa bi-shayʾ)"; it is clear.
