✧ A man came to ʿImrān b. Ḥuṣayn while we were with him and said: "Al-Ḥakam b. ʿAmr al-Ghifārī has been appointed governor over Khurasan." ʿImrān wished for it until a man from the people said to him: "Shall we call him for you?" He said to him: "No." Then ʿImrān got up and met him among the people. ʿImrān said: "You have been given charge of a great matter of the Muslims' affairs." Then he commanded him, forbade him, and admonished him, then said: "Do you remember the day when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'There is no obedience to a created being in disobedience to Allah [Blessed and Exalted]'?" Al-Ḥakam said: "Yes." ʿImrān said: "Allah is greatest."
