✧ I was burdened with a bloodwit debt, so I came to the Prophet ﷺ and asked him about it. He said, 'Stay until the zakat comes to us; then either we will carry it for you, or we will help you with it.' And he said, 'Begging is not lawful except for three: a man who has incurred a debt for a people, so he asks for it until he pays it off, then he stops; a man struck by a calamity that destroyed his wealth, so he asks until he obtains a means of livelihood or a sufficiency of living, then he stops; and a man stricken by poverty, so he asks until he obtains a means of livelihood or a sufficiency of living, then he stops. Anything else of begging, O Qabisa, is unlawful gain; its owner consumes it as unlawful gain.'
