حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ قُرَّةَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ مُغَفَّلٍ يَقُولُ
قَرَأَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ عَامَ الْفَتْحِ فِي مَسِيرِهِ سُورَةَ الْفَتْحِ عَلَى رَاحِلَتِهِ وَقَالَ مَرَّةً: نَزَلَتْ سُورَةُ الْفَتْحِ وَهُوَ فِي مَسِيرٍ لَهُ، فَجَعَلَ يَقْرَأُ وَهُوَ عَلَى رَاحِلَتِهِ قَالَ: فَرَجَّعَ فِيهَا قَالَ: فَقَالَ مُعَاوِيَةُ: لَوْلَا أَنِّي أَكْرَهَ أَنْ يَجْتَمِعَ النَّاسُ عَلَيَّ لَحَكَيْتُ لَكُمْ قِرَاءَتَهُ
Translation

✧ The Prophet ﷺ recited Surah al-Fath in the year of the conquest while traveling, on his mount. And once he said: 'Surah al-Fath was revealed while he was on a journey, and he began to recite it while on his mount.' He said: 'He chanted it melodiously.' He said: 'Mu'awiya said: "Were it not that I dislike people gathering around me, I would have imitated his recitation for you."'
