✧ He said to his companions one day: 'Shall I show you how the prayer of the Messenger of God ﷺ was performed?' He said: 'And that was at a time other than a prayer time. He stood, and he performed the standing properly, then he bowed, and he performed the bowing properly, then he raised his head and stood upright for a little while, then he prostrated, then he raised his head and said the takbir while sitting, then he paused for a little while, then he prostrated again.' Abu Qilaba said: 'He prayed a prayer like the prayer of this shaykh of ours—meaning 'Amr b. Salima al-Jarmi—who used to lead the prayer during the time of the Prophet ﷺ.' Ayyub said: 'I saw 'Amr b. Salima doing something I do not see you doing: when he raised his head from the two prostrations, he sat up straight, then he stood up from the first and third rak'as.'
