✧ They came as a delegation to the Prophet ﷺ, and when they wanted to leave, they said, “O Messenger of Allah, who will lead us in prayer?” He said, “The one among you who has memorized the most Quran, or taken the most of the Quran.” He said: There was no one among the people who had memorized as much of the Quran as I had. He said: So they put me forward while I was a boy, and I used to lead them in prayer wearing a small cloak of mine. He said: I have not attended any gathering of Jarm except that I was their imam, and I pray over their dead up to this day of mine.

machine translationHe used to consider the case of ʿAmr b. Salamah weak (ḍaʿīf), and once he said: "Leave him, he is nothing (laysa bi-shayʾ)"; it is clear.
