Translation

✧ I asked Ma'qil b. Yasar about the drink. He said: "We were in Madinah, and it had abundant dates. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade us fadikh (date wine). A man came to him and asked him about an elderly mother of his: 'Should we give her nabidh to drink, for she does not eat food?' Ma'qil forbade him."
