✧ I said to Ibn Abbas: Your people claim that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ performed ramal (brisk walking) around the House, and that it is a sunnah. He said: They have spoken truth and they have lied. I said: How have they spoken truth and lied? He said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ did perform ramal around the House, but it is not a sunnah. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ and his companions arrived while the polytheists were on Mount Quayqi'an. It reached him that they were saying that the Muslims were weak and emaciated, so he commanded them to perform ramal in order to show them that they had strength.
