✧ The Prophet ﷺ took some people from my tribe on suspicion and detained them. A man from my tribe came to the Prophet ﷺ while he was delivering a sermon and said: "O Muhammad, why do you detain my neighbors?" The Prophet ﷺ remained silent. He said: "Some people say that you forbid evil and yet engage in it yourself." The Prophet ﷺ said: "What is he saying?" He said: "I began to interpose between them with words, fearing that he would hear it and supplicate against my tribe with a supplication after which they would never succeed. The Prophet ﷺ did not cease until he understood it. He said: "They have said it, or is it one of their sayers? By God, if I did that, it would be upon me, not upon them. Release his neighbors to him."
