حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ خَالِدٍ عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ عَنْ أَبِي الْمُهَلَّبِ عَنْ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ حُصَيْنٍ قَالَ

صَلَّى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ الظُّهْرَ أَوِ الْعَصْرَ ثَلَاثَ رَكَعَاتٍ، ثُمَّ سَلَّمَ، فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ يُقَالُ لَهُ الْخِرْبَاقُ: أَقَصُرَتِ الصَّلَاةُ ؟ فَسَأَلَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فَإِذَا هُوَ كَمَا قَالَ، [قَالَ: ] فَصَلَّى رَكْعَةً، ثُمَّ سَلَّمَ، ثُمَّ سَجَدَ سَجْدَتَيْنِ، ثُمَّ سَلَّمَ

Translation

✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ prayed Zuhr or Asr as three rak'ahs, then he said the salam. A man among the companions of the Prophet ﷺ called al-Khirbaq said: "Has the prayer been shortened?" The Prophet ﷺ asked, and it was as he had said. So he prayed one rak'ah, then said the salam, then prostrated twice, then said the salam.
