✧ Imran b. Husayn said to me: 'O Mutarrif, by Allah, I used to think that if I wished I could relate from the Prophet of Allah ﷺ for two consecutive days without repeating a hadith. Then what made me slower and more averse to that was that men among the companions of Muhammad ﷺ—or some of the companions of Muhammad ﷺ—whom I witnessed as they witnessed and heard as they heard, would relate hadiths that were not as they said. I knew they were not negligent of good, so I feared that it would be made unclear to me as it was made unclear to them. Sometimes he would say: "If I related to you that I heard from the Prophet of Allah ﷺ such-and-such, I would think I had spoken truthfully," and sometimes he would resolve and say: "I heard the Prophet of Allah ﷺ say such-and-such."'
