✧ I was informed that al-Miswar came to al-Hasan and said: "A slave of mine ran away, and I vowed that if I saw him I would cut off his hand. He has come, and he is now at the bridge." He said: Al-Hasan said: "Do not cut off his hand," and he told him that a man said to Imran b. Husayn: "A slave of mine ran away, and I vowed that if I saw him I would cut off his hand." He said: "Then do not cut off his hand, for the Messenger of God ﷺ used to lead us in prayer—or he said: he used to stand among us and command us to give charity and forbid us from mutilation."
