حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ عَنْ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ الْحُصَيْنِ

أَنَّ رَجُلًا مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ أَعْتَقَ رُؤُوسًا سِتَّةً عِنْدَ مَوْتِهِ، وَلَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ مَالٌ غَيْرُهُمْ، فَبَلَغَ ذَلِكَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ، فَأَغْلَظَ لَهُ فَدَعَا بِهِمْ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَأَقْرَعَ بَيْنَهُمْ، فَأَعْتَقَ اثْنَيْنِ، وَرَدَّ أَرْبَعَةً فِي الرِّقِّ

Translation

✧ A man from the Anṣār freed six slaves at his death, and he had no property besides them. That reached the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he spoke harshly about it. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ called for them and cast lots among them; he freed two and returned four to slavery.
