✧ My father and I entered upon Abu Barzah and asked him about the time of the prayer of the Messenger of God ﷺ. He said: "He used to pray the noon prayer when the sun declined, and the afternoon prayer while a man could return to the farthest part of Madinah and the sun was still alive, and the sunset prayer—Sayyar said: I forgot it—and the night prayer, he did not mind delaying it until a third of the night, and he disliked sleeping before it or talking after it. He used to pray the dawn prayer and a man would leave and recognize the face of his companion, and he used to recite in them between sixty and a hundred [verses]." Sayyar said: "I do not know whether in one of the two rak'ahs or in both."

machine translationThe ḥadīth of Abū Barzah is more authentic (aṣaḥḥ) than the ḥadīth of Aws b. Ḥudhayfah, who said: "I was among the delegation of Thaqīf, and the Prophet ﷺ would come to us every night after the ʿishāʾ prayer and speak to us standing on his feet, until he shifted his weight from one foot to the other. Most of what he told us was what he had met with from his people, the Quraysh."
