✧ His companions used to guard him. One night I got up and did not see him in his sleeping place, so I was seized by what had happened before and what had just occurred. I went to look, and there I was with Mu'adh, who had encountered what I had encountered. We heard a sound like the whirring of a mill, and the two of them stopped in their tracks. The Prophet ﷺ came from the direction of the sound and said: ‘Do you know where I have been and what I was about? A messenger came to me from my Lord, Mighty and Majestic, and gave me the choice between admitting half of my community into Paradise and intercession. I chose intercession.’ The two of them said: ‘O Messenger of God, ask God, Mighty and Majestic, to include us in your intercession.’ He said: ‘You and whoever dies not associating anything with God are in my intercession.’”

machine translationIts narrators are the narrators of the Ṣaḥīḥ, except ʿĀṣim b. Abī al-Najūd, who has been declared trustworthy (wuththiqa), though there is some weakness in him. Al-Bazzār narrated it in abridged form. However, Abū al-Malīḥ and Abū Burdah did not meet Muʿādh b. Jabal.
