حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ
أَنَّ أَبَا مُوسَى الْأَشْعَرِيَّ كَانَ لَهُ أَخٌ يُقَالُ لَهُ: أَبُو رُهْمٍ، وَكَانَ يَتَسَرَّعُ فِي الْفِتْنَةِ، وَكَانَ الْأَشْعَرِيُّ يَكْرَهُ الْفِتْنَةَ، فَقَالَ لَهُ: لَوْلَا مَا أَبْلَغْتَ إِلَيَّ مَا حَدَّثْتُكَ، إِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ: مَا مِنْ مُسْلِمَيْنِ الْتَقَيَا بِسَيْفَيْهِمَا، فَقَتَلَ أَحَدُهُمَا الْآخَرَ إِلَّا دَخَلَا جَمِيعًا النَّارَ
Translation

✧ Abu Musa al-Ash'ari had a brother called Abu Ruhm, and he was quick to rush into tribulation. Al-Ash'ari disliked tribulation, so he said to him: ‘Were it not for what you have conveyed to me, I would not tell you: I heard the Messenger of God ﷺ say: “No two Muslims meet with their swords, and one of them kills the other, except that both of them enter the Fire.”’”
