✧ I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in a group of Ash'aris seeking mounts from him. He said: No, by Allah, I will not provide you mounts, and I have nothing to mount you on. We waited as long as Allah willed, then he ordered for us three she-camels with white humps. When we departed, some of us said to others: We came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ seeking mounts and he swore not to mount us. Let us go back to him—that is, until we remind him. So we came to him and said: O Messenger of Allah, we came to you seeking mounts and you swore not to mount us, then you mounted us? He said: I did not mount you; rather Allah, Mighty and Majestic, mounted you. Indeed, by Allah, if Allah Almighty wills, I do not swear an oath and then see something else better than it except that I do that which is better and expiate my oath—or he said: except that I expiate my oath and do that which is better.
