Musnad Ahmad 19209

Translation

✧ I was with Abu Jarir at al-Bawazij in the Sawad. The cattle returned, and he saw a cow that he did not recognize. He said: 'What is this cow?' Someone said: 'A cow that joined the cattle.' He ordered it to be driven away until it disappeared. Then he said: I heard the Messenger of God ﷺ say: 'Only a lost person shelters a stray animal.'
