✧ When al-Mughirah died and his relative was appointed to give the sermon, Jarir stood up and said: I enjoin you to fear Allah alone, with no partner, and to hear and obey until a commander comes to you. Ask forgiveness for al-Mughirah b. Shu'bah; may Allah, Exalted be He, forgive him, for he used to love well-being. To proceed: I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to pledge allegiance to him with this hand of mine upon Islam, and he stipulated for me 'and sincere counsel.' By the Lord of this mosque, I am indeed a sincere counselor to you.
