حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ أَخْبَرَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ عَنْ أُسَيْدِ بْنِ حُضَيْرٍ قَالَ
قَالَ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، أَلَا تَسْتَعْمِلُنِي كَمَا اسْتَعْمَلْتَ فُلَانًا ؟ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: سَتَلْقَوْنَ بَعْدِي أَثَرَةً، فَاصْبِرُوا حَتَّى تَلْقَوْنِي غَدًا عَلَى الْحَوْضِ
Translation

✧ A man from the Ansar said: 'O Messenger of God, will you not appoint me as you appointed so-and-so?' The Messenger of God ﷺ said: 'After me you will encounter selfishness, so be patient until you meet me tomorrow at the Basin.'
