✧ Ibn ‘Abbās asked permission to enter upon ‘Ā’ishah. Her brother’s sons kept urging her. She said: “I fear that he will praise me.” When she gave him permission, he said: “Between you and meeting the beloved ones there is only the soul’s parting from the body. You were the most beloved of the wives of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to him, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ loved only what is good. Your necklace fell on the night of al-Abwā’, and verses of the Qur’an were revealed concerning you. There is no mosque among the mosques of the Muslims but your exoneration is recited in it during the hours of the night and the hours of the day.” She said: “Spare me your praise, O Ibn ‘Abbās, for by Allah, I wish”
