✧ Umar b. al-Khattab said to Suhayb ؓ: "Were it not for three traits in you, there would be no fault in you." He said: "And what are they? By Allah, you keep finding fault with something." He said: "Your taking the kunya Abu Yahya when you have no child, your claiming descent from al-Namir b. Qasit when you are a man with a speech impediment, and that you do not hold on to wealth." He said: "As for my kunya Abu Yahya, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ gave it to me, so I will not abandon it until I meet him. As for my claiming descent from al-Namir b. Qasit, I am a man of them, but I was nursed in al-Ubulla, so this speech impediment is from that. As for wealth, do you see me spending except on what is right?"
