✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ, during the days of Hunayn, moved his lips after the dawn prayer with something we had not seen him do. We said: "O Messenger of Allah, we see you doing something you did not use to do. What is this that you move your lips with?" He said: "A prophet among those before you was impressed by the large number of his community, so he said: 'These will never be overcome by anything.' Then Allah revealed to him: 'Give your community a choice among one of three things: either We impose upon them an enemy from other than them who will plunder them, or famine, or We send death upon them.' So he consulted them, and they said: 'As for the enemy, we have no strength against them; as for famine, we have no patience for it; but death.' So He sent death upon them, and seventy thousand of them died in three days. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'So I now say, when I see their large numbers: O Allah, through You I strive, through You I attack, and through You I fight.'"
