حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ مِنْ كِتَابِهِ حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ حَدَّثَنَا ثَابِتٌ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى عَنْ صُهَيْبٍ قَالَ

عَجِبْتُ لِأَمْرِ الْمُؤْمِنِ، إِنَّ أَمْرَ الْمُؤْمِنِ كُلَّهُ لَهُ خَيْرٌ، لَيْسَ ذَلِكَ لِأَحَدٍ إِلَّا لِلْمُؤْمِنِ، إِنْ أَصَابَتْهُ سَرَّاءُ شَكَرَ وَكَانَ خَيْرًا، وَإِنْ أَصَابَتْهُ ضَرَّاءُ صَبَرَ وَكَانَ خَيْرًا

Translation

✧ I am amazed at the affair of the believer. Indeed, the entire affair of the believer is good for him, and that is not for anyone except the believer: If something pleasing befalls him, he gives thanks, and that is good; and if something harmful befalls him, he is patient, and that is good.
