✧ I came to my family at night with cracked hands, and they smeared me with saffron. In the morning I went to the Messenger of God ﷺ, greeted him, but he did not return my greeting or welcome me. He said, 'Wash this off.' I went and washed it, then returned, but some of it remained on me. I greeted him, but he did not return my greeting or welcome me, and he said, 'Wash this off yourself.' I went and washed it, then came and greeted him, and he returned my greeting and welcomed me. He said, 'Indeed, the angels do not attend the funeral of a disbeliever, nor of one smeared with saffron, nor of one in a state of major ritual impurity.' And he granted a concession for the ritually impure person, if he sleeps or eats or drinks, to perform ablution.
