حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ، حَدَّثَنَا مِسْعَرٌ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْجَبَّارِ بْنِ وَائِلٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي أَهْلِي عَنْ أَبِي، قَالَ

أُتِيَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ بِدَلْوٍ مِنْ مَاءٍ، فَشَرِبَ مِنْهُ، ثُمَّ مَجَّ فِي الدَّلْوِ، ثُمَّ صَبَّ فِي الْبِئْرِ، أَوْ شَرِبَ مِنَ الدَّلْوِ، ثُمَّ مَجَّ فِي الْبِئْرِ، فَفَاحَ مِنْهَا مِثْلُ رِيحِ الْمِسْكِ

Translation

✧ A bucket of water was brought to the Prophet ﷺ. He drank from it, then spat into the bucket, then poured it into the well—or he drank from the bucket, then spat into the well—and from it wafted a fragrance like musk.
