حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَابِسٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ

نَهَى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَنِ الْحِجَامَةِ لِلصَّائِمِ، وَالْمُوَاصَلَةِ، وَلَمْ يُحَرِّمْهَا عَلَى أَحَدٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِهِ، قَالُوا: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، إِنَّكَ تُوَاصِلُ إِلَى السَّحَرِ ؟ فَقَالَ: إِنِّي أُوَاصِلُ إِلَى السَّحَرِ، وَإِنَّ رَبِّي عَزَّ وَجَلَّ يُطْعِمُنِي وَيَسْقِينِي

Translation

✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ forbade cupping for the fasting person and continuous fasting, but he did not make it forbidden for any of his companions. They said: 'O Messenger of God, you fast continuously until dawn?' He said: 'I fast continuously until dawn, and my Lord, Mighty and Majestic, feeds me and gives me drink.'
