✧ I asked al-Bara b. Azib: What did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ dislike or prohibit among sacrificial animals? He said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood among us—and his hand was longer than mine, or he said: My hand was shorter than his—and said: "Four are not permissible as sacrificial animals: the one-eyed whose defect is evident, the sick whose illness is evident, the lame whose lameness is evident, and the broken-legged that has no marrow." I said to al-Bara: We dislike any defect in the ear, eye, or tooth. He said: Whatever you dislike, leave it, but do not declare it forbidden to anyone.
